Hemostatic gauze is wound packing material treated with a clotting agent. It's used when a tourniquet isn't an option -- junctional wounds, deep puncture wounds, or injuries to the neck, chest, or groin where you can't apply direct limb compression. The clotting agent helps the blood clot faster at the source, buying time until the patient reaches care.

QuikClot Combat Gauze is impregnated with kaolin, a naturally occurring mineral, and is the hemostatic gauze endorsed by the Committee on Tactical Combat Casualty Care (CoTCCC) and used by all branches of the US Military. Celox offers chitosan-based options in three formats: loose granules, a syringe-style applicator for narrow gunshot or stab wounds, and a standard gauze roll.
