Duty Gear
Duty gear is the equipment law enforcement officers, corrections staff, and security professionals wear and use every shift, and it has to perform through years of daily carry, weather exposure, and hard contact. Unlike gear staged for occasional use, MOLLE vest and belt-mounted cases and equipment are drawn, re-holstered, and leaned on constantly, so retention, durability, and consistent placement matter as much as the tools themselves. A well-organized duty belt or outer carrier puts every item in the same place every time, which is exactly what an officer needs when reaction time is measured in seconds.
You'll find duty cases for handcuffs, tourniquets, Tasers, OC spray, radios, batons, flashlights, and naloxone, along with duty equipment such as flashlights, handcuffs, batons, and breaching tools. You'll find gear from manufacturers trusted in patrol work, including Zero9, High Speed Gear, Esstac, Eleven 10, ASP, and Streamlight, in configurations suited to uniformed patrol, plainclothes assignments, corrections, and tactical teams.
Material and finish are the first considerations when outfitting a belt. Molded Kydex and injection-molded polymer cases hold their shape and release equipment consistently, while durable nylon remains the standard for soft gear, and basketweave or plain matte finishes on molded cases let officers meet agency appearance codes without giving up modern retention. Check mounting compatibility as well: most duty cases attach to 2- to 2.25-inch duty belts, and many modern designs offer interchangeable belt and MOLLE mounting. For device-specific cases, confirm the exact model fit, since a case molded for one Taser or handcuff pattern may not secure another.
A duty setup extends beyond the belt itself. Pair your cases with duty and battle belts, add magazine pouches for reloads, and keep a tourniquet within reach of either hand.

Duty gear, sometimes searched as police gear, covers everything an officer wears or carries on a belt or vest during a shift. That includes handcuffs, tourniquets, Tasers, OC spray, radios, flashlights, batons, narcan, and the cases that store and retain them. The complete setup varies by department, but we recommend every officer carries at least a tourniquet in addition to their standard handcuffs, flashlight, and radio.
Duty cases are the belt- or vest-mounted holders built to carry a specific device, like a handcuff, a tourniquet, or a flashlight. This piece of gear is often overlooked, but the method of carrying your equipment determines how fast it can be accessed, and how secure it is on a belt or outer carrier. It also determines an officer's appearance, which matters when trying to maintain a professional and approachable image.
Chain handcuffs connect the two cuffs with a short chain, which makes them faster and more forgiving to apply, especially on someone resisting or in a tight space, while giving the person in cuffs more mobility. Hinged handcuffs use a rigid hinge instead, which limits movement and gives the officer more control at the cost of being a bit slower to get on. Many patrol officers carry chain cuffs for routine, non-violent arrests and reach for hinged cuffs with a combative or high-risk subject. Browse our handcuffs to compare both styles.
Kydex and other injection-molded polymers hold their shape and release equipment consistently, which is why they're becoming more popular for handcuffs, radios, and other hard-sided duty gear — the rigid mold also tends to make reinsertion the easiest of any case material. Rigid cases are also waterproof and maintain and clean appearance longer than nylon pouches. Nylon remains the standard for more tactical environments, and tends to offer adjustable retention and flexibility, so you can dial the fit to your preference or use one pouch for multiple different items rather than relying on a fixed mold. Leather has mostly fallen out of daily use in duty gear, kept around for dress uniforms rather than working shifts. If your agency has an appearance code, basketweave or plain matte finishes on molded Kydex cases meet those standards without giving up modern retention.
Most duty cases and pouches fit 1.5- to 2.25-inch duty belts, the standard width used on patrol and tactical belts alike. Many designs use dedicated mounting options like a Tek-Lok, which allows the user to move and remount a pouch to their case repeatedly without needing to re-weave MOLLE. Velcro One Wraps are also a quick and easy and lightweight way to mount a pouch to a belt. If you're building a belt setup from scratch, check our lineup of duty belts.
Belt mounting keeps cases on the duty belt, typically using a Tek-Lok, and keeps placement consistent for a fast draw. MOLLE mounting allows gear to be mounted onto a vest or outer carrier, usually with a Malice Clip, Molle-Lok, or High Speed Gear clip. MOLLE has become more common as departments shift weight off the duty belt onto an outer vest. The right setup comes down to your department's policy and your own preference for where you carry gear.
Trauma medics and most departments point to the same core items for an officer's individual first aid kit (IFAK): a CoTCCC-approved tourniquet, hemostatic gauze, a chest seal, a pressure bandage, and nitrile gloves. These map to the M.A.R.C.H. priorities (Massive hemorrhage, Airway, Respiration, Circulation, Hypothermia) that TCCC guidelines use to address the most common preventable causes of death in the field. The kit should be mounted somewhere either hand can reach. Browse our IFAKs for pre-built options.
High Speed Gear Duty Pistol TACO
High Speed Gear's Duty line of TACOs takes the speed, adjustability and reliability of HSGI's flagship design and gives it a professional aesthetic. HSGI's clip system mounts to a duty belt or an outer vest, so the same pouch works whether you're running belt-only or a plate carrier setup. Beyond mags, it also fits small flashlights bezel-up, multitools, and pocket knives, giving it some flexibility as a general-purpose slot.
Eleven 10 Rigid Tourniquet Case
The most widely carried tourniquet case in law enforcement, available for both C-A-T and SOF tourniquets. The rigid shell keeps the tourniquet protected and in a fixed, predictable position, which matters when you or someone else needs to find it fast with one hand. Mounting options include a Tek-Lok for a duty belt or a Malice Clip for an outer carrier, and a holster mount is also available if you're running a Safariland holster and want the case attached to it directly.
An injection-molded case built for common handcuff models, able to securely fit standard chain and hinged cuffs, available in single or double capacity. The molded shell holds the cuffs in a fixed position for a consistent one-handed re-holster, and its sturdy construction means it'll work reliably shift after shift. It's one of our best-selling handcuff cases for a reason, built by those who do the job and know what an officer needs in a handcuff case.
Available in both chained and hinged configurations, so whichever style cuffs you prefer, this pair covers it. It's an NTOA "Member Tested and Recommended" Gold Award winner, built with a forged 7075 T6 aluminum frame that's rigid and lightweight without the sharp edges of stamped-steel cuffs. The standout feature is a keyless double lock: press the color-indicated bar with a fingertip to double-lock without needing a key, which speeds up the process and removes a step that's easy to skip under stress.
