Your individual first aid kit, also known as IFAK, is your lifeline. In any trauma situation, you want it to get you out alive. Your trauma kit should include a tourniquet, trauma dressing, gauze, chest seal and gloves. Train with the items in your kit and be prepared if you need to stop a bleed.

INDIVIDUAL FIRST AID KITS

An individual first aid kit contains trauma items to stop heavy bleeding. An IFAK is a personal choice, and contents can vary but we always recommend a tourniquet, trauma dressing and gauze. These three items can get you far with hemorrhage control. IFAKs today rarely contain bump and scrape items such as band aids and wound wash. Your IFAK should always be visible. If you are unable to render aid to yourself, you want another individual to be able to locate your kit and assist. Not all IFAKs are suitable for everyone. You may want to build your own which if great. Gear up on some individual components and suitable bag. If you are looking for an EDC tourniquet, we highly recommend the SOF Tourniquet or the SWAT-T Tourniquet. Pair the SWAT-T Tourniquet with Combat Gauze and you can render aid to most wounds.
