• Mild Steel Core: 5.56x45mm M855/SS109 at up to 3150 ft/s is rated for 6 shots.
• Mild Steel Core: 7.62x39mm M43 at up to 2410 ft/s is rated for 6 shots.
• Mild Steel Core: 7.62x54R LPS at up to 2832 ft/s is rated for 3 shots.
• Enhanced Performance: 5.56x45mm M855A1 at up to 3180 ft/s is rated for 3 shots.
• Armor Piercing Core: 7.62x39mm API at up to 2410 ft/s is rated for 3 shots.

The L211 is a special threat plate, not an NIJ Level III or Level IV plate. Under NIJ Standard 0101.06, Level III covers 7.62x51 M80 ball and Level IV covers .30-06 M2 AP. Neither rating tests against the steel core 5.56 and 7.62x39 rounds common in AR-15 and AK pattern rifles, and some Level III plates struggle with M855. HESCO built the L211 around those intermediate threats instead, testing it under a modified version of the NIJ 0101.06 protocol. The tradeoff is that 7.62x51 M80 ball does not appear on the L211 threat list, so choose a Level III or Level IV plate if full power rifle rounds are your primary concern.

Sizing and Fit

This listing covers the 10" x 12" Large shooter cut, the standard size for most adult plate carriers. A correctly sized plate covers your vital organs: measure across the chest from nipple to nipple for width, and from the clavicle down to a few inches above the belly button for length. Because the L211 runs thin, it can fit snugly in medium carriers built around 10" x 12" plates and may sit loosely in some large carriers, so check your carrier's plate pocket dimensions before you buy.
