GENERAL WOUND CARE

When it comes to emergency medical supplies, having the right items on hand is essential. From gauze and bandages to tourniquets and chest seals, having the proper medical supplies can mean the difference between life and death.

Tourniquets

A tourniquet is a device used to stop the flow of blood to a particular limb. It is typically used in cases of traumatic injury, such as a gunshot wound, to prevent the patient from losing too much blood. Tourniquets are usually made of a strong, adjustable band, and are applied by wrapping the band around the limb above the wound and tightening it (usually with a windlass) until the bleeding stops.

The North American Rescue C-A-T Gen 7 Tourniquet has been rigorously tested by the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research and found to be 100% effective in blocking blood flow in both the arms and legs. The Combat Application Tourniquet is TCCC Approved and designed for easy one-handed use, with a single application protocol, a single buckle routing system, and other improvements to its construction. Plus, its red tip tab helps you quickly locate and thread the tourniquet during application.

Chest Seals

Chest wounds are one of the most serious types of injuries, and having the right supplies on hand can mean the difference between life and death.

The HyFin Vent Chest Seal Twin Pack from North American Rescue is the gold standard for preventing, managing and treating an open or tension pneumothorax potentially caused by penetrating chest trauma. Each seal comes in its own individual package, enabling users to apply a seal to both an entry and exit wound, or just one wound and store the other for later use as the situation dictates. The 3-vented channels on each seal are designed so that air cannot enter the chest cavity during inhalation, but can escape through the vents during exhalation. Additionally, these channels allow for blood to escape, and a fail-safe system is in place to ensure that even if two of the three channels become blocked, the vent remains fully operable.

Hemostatic Gauze

Fast-acting and reliable, Quikclot Combat Gauze from North American Rescue is the ultimate wound care dressing for any medical personnel, especially those in combat or tactical environments. It quickly stops blood flow, is inert and non-allergenic, and can be fitted to any wound size or shape. It is also easily removed once clotting has taken place. With its four yards long by three inches wide rolls, Combat Gauze is an ideal choice for combat and tactical medical personnel.
